“Mindhunter” – Series on Netflix!

“Mindhunter” is a series by David Fincher, which airs on the giant streaming platform Netflix. The first season has ten episodes that last about 60 minutes each. The focus of the plot is placed upon the FBI research on the psychological background of serial killers and the society in which they grew up in.

“How do we get ahead of the madman if we do not know how the madmen think?” David Fincher

Once again David Fincher addresses the subject of serial killers and the poor cops chasing them. The director is known for his other works on sociopathic killers, such as “Seven,” “Fight Club,” and “Gone Girl”. His new adventure into the depths of the human soul, which aired on Netflix October 13, 2017, will take a look at how the science of profiling was developed by the FBI. The characters may be fictional but the series is firmly rooted in reality. That is exactly what gives series its charm.

In ten hours a lot can happen! The main characters are FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany): Holden is a slightly out-of-the-way young nerd, the other an old police hare. The scene is set in the 1970s. It is their dream to revolutionize the investigation methods for capturing serial killers, by using the inside knowledge of already apprehended serial killers. This so called profiling is well known today, but 50 years ago this was an unknown playing field.

With his work, Fincher again draws a charming arc to reality and tells us a lot about the current state of the US. He divides the country into a complex world, that can be divided from top to bottom, black and white or into good or bad. Even though every cop in the series is disturbed that the crimes become more arbitrary, the motives are more unclear the new scientific findings and fresh ideas are considered to be dangerous.

The plot is authentic and a nail biter till the end. The second season is already in planning. So it is a must watch!
